It's a family thing.
I'm a gardener by blood. My parents gardened as well as theirs and then, of course, all the generations before them. All of them, except for my parents, had chickens, as well as other animals. So somewhere in history it was no longer the norm to work with and raise livestock. And now, unfortunately, it's almost a luxury to be able to cultivate your land properly.
Which brings me back to the purpose of this story. As the years flew by I noticed my soil was turning to garbage! The more I gardened, the more minerals and nutrients I depleted and I began to rely heavily on commercial fertilizer, insecticides, and 'mulch'. It dawned on me there had to be a better way to do this. A healthier way to grow good food for my family. So, being where we are now with the internet, I began my research there instead of talking to my parents. I spent hours and hours on the computer. No luck. Finally, I took a step back and thought long and hard, what was different now. What was I missing?

I think we all know the answer to that by now and that is where the adventure began.
